ROUTE LAB / SEVEN DAYS

A humane seven-day China route

Two bases, one meaningful day trip and enough unscheduled time for the trip to become more than transit.

THE SHORT VERSION

  • Use no more than two hotel bases in seven days.
  • Protect the arrival day and the morning after a transfer.
  • Choose one neighborhood to repeat in each base.
01

Days one to three: establish a base

Land, solve money and connectivity, walk the immediate neighborhood and take one anchor day. Do not make the first day carry the trip's biggest reservation.

02

Day four: change the frame

Move by a clear rail or flight connection and treat the transfer as the day's main event. A successful change of base is already progress.

03

Days five to seven: contrast and close

Use one deep city day, one optional day trip and one flexible closing half-day. The final schedule should survive weather, fatigue or a discovery worth repeating.
